Everything Expireless can do
Expireless is an AI-powered kitchen inventory app for Android, iOS, and web that scans grocery receipts, tracks expiry dates across fridge, freezer, pantry, and medicine cabinet, and keeps a household in sync in real time. Below is the full feature set, grouped by what it's for.
Four ways to get groceries into inventory without typing them out one by one.
AI Receipt OCR
Photograph any printed grocery receipt and Expireless reads every line, sorts each item into fridge, freezer, or pantry, and fills in a default expiry date. Long receipts split across 2–5 photos are stitched into one scan. Tuned for both US chains (Walmart, Costco, Target, Kroger) and CIS-market receipts, with a fast path for Russian fiscal QR-code receipts that skips OCR entirely.
Voice commands
Dictate several items with quantities and expiry dates in one sentence. The same voice input also adds or removes shopping-list items, searches recipes, and sorts your inventory — and replies back in whichever of the 6 supported languages you're speaking.
Product & fridge photo scanning
Snap a single product, or the whole fridge shelf at once, and Expireless identifies what's there. For batch-cooked meals, photograph the container label instead of typing the name, prep date, and use-by window by hand.
Barcode catalog
Scan a barcode to pull name, brand, and nutrition instantly through a three-tier lookup — local product catalog first, then cache, then Open Food Facts.
What happens to an item after it's in the app — tracked accurately from the freezer to the pan.
Expiry engine
Every item shows days-left and a risk color — fresh, expiring soon, or expired. Shelf life is filled in automatically from a 200+ category database, tuned separately for fridge, freezer, and pantry storage.
Thaw & defrost tracking
Move an item out of the freezer to thaw and Expireless tracks two separate countdowns for it — the original freezer use-by, and the shorter fridge-thaw window that starts once it's out.
Multi-pack counter
A 6-pack of yogurt is one inventory entry with 6 remaining, not six separate entries. Consume one at a time or the whole pack in one tap.
Dish assembly
Break one product into several: a whole chicken becomes breast, thighs, and wings, each with its own storage location and expiry date, still linked back to the original purchase.
Built for a household, not a single user — sharing that scales from a couple to a multi-generation family.
Real-time multi-device sync
Every household member sees the same inventory and shopping list. A change made on one phone — adding milk, checking off an item — appears on everyone else's within seconds, no refresh needed.
Role-based sharing
Invite a full Member with read/write access to everything, or a scoped Helper limited to the shopping list and any medicine courses assigned to them — useful for kids, grandparents, or a house-sitter who shouldn't see the whole inventory.
Multiple locations
Manage more than one kitchen — home, cabin, office — from the same account, each with its own fridge, freezer, and pantry inventory.
From "what can I make right now" to a printed label on the container.
Recipe matchmaking from stock
Search recipes ranked by how few ingredients you're missing, or use the one-tap "from your fridge" view for what you can cook right now with what's already in stock.
Weekly AI meal planner
A full 7-day plan — breakfast, lunch, dinner — built from your current stock, household size, and diet type (kosher, halal, vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, keto, Mediterranean, gluten-free). Marking a planned meal cooked deducts the ingredients from inventory automatically.
Thermal label printing
With a Niimbot thermal label printer, print a physical freezer label straight from the app — item name, cook date, weight, and macros — instead of handwriting it on masking tape.
Features FAQ
Does Expireless scan grocery receipts?
Yes. Take a photo of any printed grocery receipt and Expireless reads every item, sorts it into fridge, freezer, or pantry, and fills in a default expiry date — a 20–40 item receipt takes about 10 seconds. Long receipts can be split across 2–5 photos and are stitched into one scan. It also has a fast path for Russian fiscal QR-code receipts that skips OCR entirely. More on receipt scanning →
Is Expireless available on iOS, not just Android?
Yes. Expireless is available on Android (Google Play), iOS (App Store), and as a standalone web app at web.expireless.app, in addition to the Telegram bot and Mini App.
Can more than one person use the same inventory?
Yes. Invite household members and everyone sees the same fridge, freezer, pantry, and shopping list in real time. Invite a full Member (read/write everything) or a scoped Helper (shopping list and any medicine courses assigned to them, nothing else). More on household sharing →
Does Expireless track medicine, not just food?
Yes. A separate medicine cabinet tracks prescriptions, OTC medicine, and supplements with their own expiry alerts, plus optional dosing courses with reminders that can be assigned to a household helper. More on medicine tracking →
Can Expireless build a weekly meal plan from what I already have?
Yes. The weekly AI meal planner builds a full 7-day plan from your current stock, household preferences, and diet type — including kosher, halal, vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, keto, Mediterranean, and gluten-free. Cooking a planned meal deducts the ingredients automatically.
Can I print physical freezer labels from the app?
Yes, if you have a Niimbot thermal label printer. Expireless renders a label with the item name, cook date, weight, and macros and sends it straight to the printer.
